Biodiversity Exhibition in the Kids Zone of SX 2024

What can you find at the Biodiversity Exhibition in the Kids Zone of SX 2024? If you visit this exhibition, you will get to watch a video about the relationships between living things in a rainforest. This English translation will help you understand the dynamics, abundance, threats, and hopes for Thailand’s rainforests, which can be extrapolated to other rainforests around the world.

English Translation

Tropical Evergreen Rainforests are a vital water source with a high biodiversity level.

The dense structure of the rainforest consists of five layers of vegetation that grow in harmony, from the forest floor to the emergent layer.

These five layers include the emergent layer, the canopy, the understory, the shrub layer, the forest floor, and the epiphytes.

Not only that, these rainforests are also home to wildlife, each with a unique role.

Living organisms, both plants and wildlife, depend on each other, forming a balanced ecosystem.

The tropical rainforest is a crucial producer of oxygen for the world and serves as a watershed that nourishes all life, including us.

However, this natural wealth is fading away.

When we lose forests, animals lose their habitats and may also face extinction.

Oxygen production decreases, and watersheds disappear as fewer forests are left to absorb rainfall.

Over the past 50 years, we have lost vast amounts of forest area.

Today, only 31.47% of Thailand’s land is covered in forest, and wildlife numbers have also declined.

09 But we can still make a positive change.

By working together to rehabilitate natural spaces and allow them to coexist with communities, we can restore forested areas without disrupting ecosystems.

This creates spaces where humans, wildlife, and plants can live in harmony.

Everything in the ecosystem helps maintain nature’s balance, and we are part of that biodiversity.

We can be the heroes capable of making good changes happen.
